H-E-B, here we come!

November 11, 2018

Here in Texas we are proud of our Texas-born and bred businesses, and we love our grocery store. Yes, our grocery store. H.E.B grocery is beloved by all Texans. B-E-L-O-V-E-D.

And here’s why . . .
In 1905 Florence Butt, with a husband in poor health and 3 small children, opened the first C.C.Butt grocery store with the precious $60 she had in her savings.

And now, 113 years later, that little grocery store on the corner is THE LARGEST PRIVATE EMPLOYER IN THE UNITED STATES.

Employing 90,000 people in Texas and another 10,000 in Mexico.

Truly, y’all. uh-mazing.

Basically, when the chips are down, don’t mess with mama. Mama Tried. And mama did it.

Also, did we mention that this grocery store over and over again amazes us with their charitable efforts? During Hurricane Harvey the never closed … store managers slept in the stores, camped out in the parking lots, and vowed that they would SERVE the people of Texas when they needed it most.

They put up pop-up tents in parking lots, they drove 18-wheelers through treacherous roads, and so much more…all to take care of Texas.

When FEMA couldn’t deliver water to Beaumont when they had lost their water system and were surrounded by flood waters, H-E-B did.

Because they decided a long time ago, that if they took care of their customers, their customers would take care of them.

READ the Texas Monthly feature here.

Once a year, their 9 exclusive in-store boutiques, Mia’s Mirror, showcase a Texas brand. This year they’ve chosen to showcase Junk Gypsy . . . we follow in some impressive footsteps, including Kendra Scott, among others.

On Nov 16th meet us at the grocery store. We will be at their largest store in Schertz, Texas from 12pm – 2pm on the 16th . . so get ready for the most fun grocery shopping trip ever! There will be LIVE MUSIC, drinks, snacks, ICED TEA . . . and loads of JG items handpicked for you! Plus, a book signing, a boot trunk show, and more!!

Florence, we hope we make you proud!

I got to meet ya’ll at the Schertz HEB and it was really FUN! My daughter surprised me by taking me there and getting me your book too as an early Christmas present. I really have enjoyed your design styles and there is nothing greater than working with family and with your hands and especially doing what you LOVE. Thank you for your genuine kindness and conversation. God Bless and Take Care.
