kickin’ hiney & takin NaMES…

January 11, 2011

there’s something that’s been weighing on our minds for quite some time now…something we wanna do. something we’re really excited about. something we just gotta do. and we know you’ll want to too…

{chillin' at the WaRRENTON AnTIQUeS show}

so first, let’s get through the ugly part. it’s cancer…it stinks. and i would pretty much assume there isn’t a single person out there whose life has not been touched in some way by that ugly, stinky word. you know people that have lost the battle, you know some that are currently in the trenches of war, and thankfully you know those that have won the FIGHT.

or possibly, YOU are currently courageously, boldly, fighting the fight. the gloves-are-off-take-no-prisoners-fight-of-your-life. we salute you.

and here’s the good part. the part we’re really pumped about…we are working on a new design. a new design to HONOR and CELEBRATE all of the cancer survivors & fighters & true-blue warriors out there. we are doing a call for names. for the names of anyone & everyone who has been through the CaNCER war. NAMES in honor, in celebration, in memoriam.

and the even better part…we’re going to print EVERY name we receive on our new design, print it, and SELL it. and 100% of the profits will go to the LIVESTRONG foundation working hard in the fight against cancer.

with a little help from our friends…here’s what we need from you…

  • type the name or names below in the comments section (also post on our FaCEBOOK page) that you would like to contribute to our first ever KEEPiN the FaiTH tee shirt!
  • we’ll print the name just as you spell it…so be sure to type it the way you want it!
  • spread the love by telling all yer friends and family…the more names the beTTER!!!!
  • buy the tee! buy 5! buy 10! we’re contributing 100% of profits!!!  available in mens and womens!!! (PLEASE note: the art you see pictured here is NOT the official art…official design to be released sooooon and PLEASE note: the tee is NOT available yet…it should be available in approximately 1 month BUT you can pre-order now!)
  • read this: the LIVESTRONG manifesto and watch the video
  • check back here often for an update of the details that we’re probably leaving out 🙂

****any names added to the list after SuNDAY, FEBRUARY 13th, will not be added to the tee. BUT this had such great response, maybe we’ll do a FiGHTER tee -keepin the faith project II!***

we’ll kick things off by adding the first few names…

  1. phillip sikes (some of you know our dad has CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia)…and upon his diagnosis, life was forever changed. but we’re keepin the FaiTH.
  2. BiLLY SiKES (one of our uncles who is currently fightin’ the fight)
  3. teresa patterson (our sweet, sweet, beautiful cousin that lost her fight to breast cancer at age 38)

{teresa pre-diagnosis}

a good friend of ours, diedra long camp, who has lost a husband and a brother to cancer and who has inspired us beyond belief with her strength and faith and grace, just told amie on the phone:

“cancer may be tough, but i’m tougher…i’m a force to be reckoned with.”

come on y’all…let’s kick hiney together!!! we’re takin’ names…

    Betty J Stone- My beautiful mother- she is currently taking her 3rd round of chemotherapy, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 she was in remission for 5 years when a lump appeared on her neck. She was then out of remission with a diiferent stage of cancer diagnosed breast cancer metastatic carcinoma:( she has had radiation 3 different times on the different parts of her body all 2 weeks in duration… She has also suffered from 2 broken bones due to the tumors taking her calcium supply from her bones. Throughout everything she has remained positive and so have the doctors. She had her last chemotherapy treatment 12-29-10 and will return back to her doctor at the beginning of february for a PET scan so they can restage and if everything comes out as the doctor plans he is going to put her on oral chemotherapy pills!! We rarely so “that” word known as cancer. Her positive additude, prayer, and her STRONG will has kept her going not to mention our family:)

    Have you ever met a “real life cowboy”? I don’t mean someone who works on a ranch, or punches cattle, or breeds horses, or pulls a trailer behind his truck to eat lunch at the local cafe. I mean the kind that once people meet they don’t for…get. A character so strong that people refer to him as “a character.” The kind that you would think you would only read about in a McMurtry novel. The kind that dabbles in a little bit of everything and is good at all of it. The kind that knows exactly what he thinks and does not mind tellin’ you about it. The kind that spits whit as often as he is spittin’ in his Dr. Pepper can. The kind that appreciates a good horse, anything fried, and a good joke. He may even have a reputation as being a bit of a hard ass, but if you love him, you love him all the way. And you know, he loves ya right back. I was lucky enough to be raised by such a fella’. A real cowboy, brother, husband, uncle, friend…daddy.

    I lost my dad, Earl Lane, to pancreatic cancer 5 years ago this month. When he was diagnosed he was given 3-6months and lived and fought for 7. I was a total daddy’s girl from the day I was born and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wish he were still here and that there would’ve been half of the options then for pancreatic cancer as there are now.. and that was only 5 years ago. There are a lot of organization donating “portions of proceeds” to cancer research, but for y’all to be donating 100% from this product is amazing and I’m certain will help speed up some of the research out there that is saving lives but hindered by funding. Thank You.

    While cancer is a monster to battle, heart disease is the number one killer of women, yet this invisible monster takes the lives of women around the world unexpectedly every year and yet awareness for the disease among women has taken a backseat to breast cancer and its relatives. February 4 is Wear Red Day but make every day heart disease awareness day.
