we’ve been busy doing a photoshoot around here….which we always get excited about…we find ourselves not eating, not sleeping. not checking the mail or returning phone calls. not showering… ok, maybe we get a little too excited. we tend to get completely immersed in our latest inspiration. our latest vibe. yes, some people may call it obsessed…but we like to call it immersed. (and no, we are not in denial. really. we’re NOT.)

it’s new inspiration. new looks. new stuff.

and for those of us that get distracted easily (squirrel!)…new inspiration is always a good thing.

it’s a new vibe.

a chance to play dress up and channel whatever is inspiring us at the moment. whether it’s beat up old tires at the corner gas station, or a cactus shaped like a heart in a tin bucket. whether it’s janis joplin or willie nelson.

here we go y’all…

day 1: we were banditas in a border town …

yes…that’s pretty much the way we roll. some companies have hair and make-up artists, 2-3 photographers, camera assistants, a videographer, stylists, and other random folks on set of a photoshoot. i guess you could say we’re a little more ‘basic’ with our photoshoots. there’s amie (the stylist), archie (the model), ranell (model), (who both, by the way, do their own makeup and hair), and then there’s me (photographer) with a step ladder. but y’all. it’s a fancy step ladder. it has grips on the handle.

day 2: we found ourselves busted flat in baton rouge channeling janis joplin & me & bobby mcgee….(and clearly, we were actually at the round top service station…but busted flat in round top doesn’t have the same ring to it)

where they still pump your gas. from an old school gas pump. into your john deere. which you drove up to the gas station. yes, this happens. and yes, this is why i love everything about this picture.

the way we look at it, inspiration is a good-gawsh wonderful thing. and when it strikes, you can either take it for a ride or you can walk away. and this time, we were ridin’ shotgun.
