Headed for the Big D!

June 16, 2022

Over the past few years, the “he who shall not be named” pandemic prompted us to pivot, recreate, and tackle new adventures in ways we never have before. The creative challenges have been exciting (I might also add, extremely stressful… and by “extremely”, I mean we may or may not keep paper bags nearby at all times to hyperventilate (or barf) in at times) and have honestly reminded me of the early days of starting JG … dreaming and scheming and sketching and jotting down notes on paper all night long, digging deep for new creative inspo, and knowing that every day you’re learning something new.

And yes, we’ve managed to go almost 2 solid years without writing a blog post. But not quite 2 .. so there’s that.

With the birth of our Road Trip Collection for Buc-ee’s, came new possibilities in offering these items on a grander scale. We’ve always been a sucker for a kitschy souvenir shop … sea shell shops on the beach, souvenir shops in airports, teepee-shaped souvenir shops along Route 66, you name it. We’ve stopped at them all and bought the cheesy coffee mugs, the armadillo shaped keychains, and the snow globes with resin statues of the chandelier tree in California in them. Thus, the Road Trip Collection was born … a souvenir-inspired collection for all of the road warriors chasing that wanderlust.

Here we go, y’all. We’re taking our Road Trip collection on the road with our first-ever showroom at Dallas Market Center! If you’re a retailer, we’d love for you to check out our goods … and maybe snag some for your store! Stop by and see us .. we’ll be at WTC 203!

The theme: Caution Cowgirls Ahead. We were inspired by roadside stops, the indominable spirit of the cowgirls of the old west, and of course the wanderlust of the open road. Most of all, this room is about grit. Women with grit.

The colors: dusty pinks and sepia toned pastels.

We bought this old lighted arrow sign at the Spring show … after just a little TLC, it makes the perfect “roadside” sign for our showroom!
Dollly aka Little Sister made the road trip via trailer!
Dolly’s first ride in an elevator!

There’s a corner just for Thelma & Louise, there’s boots, and biscuits and way more to show y’all than what we can put here in pics but y’all head over to our highlights on our Instagram page to see behind the scenes action and more pics!

And if you have a store, come see us at Dallas Market Center WTC 203 next week! We’re on the bridge! Bev & Rick Lambert will be serving up Miranda Lambert champagne on the 22nd and 23rd and we’ll have an official ribbon cutting 6/23 at 10:15 am! Come celebrate with us!

We’ve hand-picked a special girl powered play list just for this showroom, called Sister Road! Use your camera in the Spotify app to give it a listen!

Here we go, y’all!! And woohooo for the first blog post in almost 2 dang years! Breaking records over here!

XOXOXXOO!!!!!

Congratulations Girls! I’m so excited for you! I’ve been following “ya’ll” since the beginning, from little old Pennsylvania! I did make it down to Round Top once but the store was closed when I got there. I will try again soon!

Wonderful news!!! My husband found your wares when we were at Bucc-ees in St. Augustine, FL last month. He said, “Hey, aren’t those the gals you like from Texas?”. Well, he ended up picking out a bunch of your treasures for himself while I picked out some for me. Made my day!

I just opend The Hillbilly Debutante Mercantile and Pie Shoppe in El Dorado Springs, MO. It’s been up and running for a month – the inside is like an RV campground with an RV painted inside. It’s very ‘Junk Gypsy-ish’. How do I go about ordering for my store? Unfortunately, i can’t make it to market this week. Will you be there next time?
