Bathe with Brad Pitt at Thelma’s Garage (kinda)

This little garage project started innocently . . And then somehow ended up with Brad Pitt in the bath tub 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

🚙Thelma & Louise, our cosmic spirit animals, were riding shotgun as we went through the initial design phase. We knew we had to pay homage to the best screen characters ever written.

1️⃣ KEEP THE OLD . . we wanted this to still look like a garage, so we added foam board in between the rafters and then covered it in stained plywood to try and match the 50 year old aged wood. (🔨let us know what you think, we think we nailed it!)

2️⃣🛁🛁TWO IS BETTER . . We went “shopping” for our plumbing fixtures, because if one clawfoot tub was good, two was better and they HAD to be vintage. (double soaking tubs for girlfriends, beverage tables nearby)

3️⃣📽️GO BIG … What started out as “let’s put lots of photos on the wall” ended up being a huge mural. But it couldn’t just be any image, it had to be THE image. After sorting through dozens of photos, printing them out, taping to the wall, and then eventually picking out the top contenders and printing on transparency sheets to shoot onto the wall with an overhead projector. So we could REALLY get the full effect.

4️⃣🔨COVER UP . . we needed some interest on the walls, but didn’t want to spend too much money. SO we opted for sheetrock on 2 walls, salvaged wood on 2, and then we did an entire wall in old ceiling tins, which gave us huge effect for not much $$

5️⃣🪞DÉCOR . . . this had to be perfect. We shopped the flea market, our store, and even scored a $199 dollar sofa from @westelmsanmarcos outlet! 🌵🏜️And, if you look closely, you will see a tumbleweed up in the rafters.

6️⃣🏠GET VIBEY . . . we decided to go with a dark paint inside & out, we chose TRICORN BLACK (this is @bpatrickflynn go-to color, so we took his advice!), and then topped it off with salavaged awnings and old enameled corridor lights.
