a coke by any other name…

May 5, 2012

tonight is the night. TONIGHT is THE NIGHT. which would explain why i was awake all night last night. awake with my head spinning… filled with a thousand thoughts…big and small (mostly small…i’m a simple girl). awake worried. awake excited. awake nervous. awake. awake. awake.

and awake realizing that we have not extended our huge SINCERE apology to y’all. so here it goes…

we are sorry. we are madly, deeply, sincerely sorry for something that you will witness in tonight’s episode on HGTV.

we. were. forced. against our will to use the word….cola. that’s right. there i said it. southerners everywhere may revolt and not claim us but trust me when i tell ya….it took no less than 27 takes before we could actually say it without stuttering. (in fact, my lips get numb just thinking about it)

{don't they look like a vicious group? just kidding...our crew seriously was OUR FAMILY}

because down here…as it is in most parts of the south, any cold bubbly beverage (barring the alcoholic celebratory kind) is referred to as a COKE. doesn’t matter if it’s a pepsi…or something generic…or even a dr.pepper…we call ’em all COKE. except of course, the amazing and wonderful BIG RED. and that one, my friends, deserves it’s own category.

but i digress…yes, we say the word cola. yes, we were violently forced. but the show must go on.

that’s it y’all…just had to confess my sins before the NATION sees ’em. please forgive us. and please watch us at 7pm PST/EST & 6pm CST on HGTV. that is all. 🙂

    Hahaha, I understand. My cousin asked for a coke on vacation and then took as sip once it was brought to her…She nearly spit it on the waitress and demanded to know what was in her beverage. She brought her a Coke, not a DP. She then apologized, but took the time to explain how soda is “coke” to us Texans, but she should have specified. Hahaha. I laughed so hard.

  • Reply Donna May 6, 2012 at 9:10 am

    Having lived in that part of Texas for a dozen years (some family still in Horseshoe Bay – not too far), I loved your show and can’t wait to see the next episode. Did you make or find that cow(?) skull that was all blinged out. I loved it!!! I want one!! It would fit right in here in Colorado!

  • Reply Christine May 6, 2012 at 1:29 pm

    Where can I find the blinged out head with horns? Loved the show . Imagination at its greatest!

  • Reply Debbie York May 6, 2012 at 2:50 pm

    Product placement and endorsements aside, I thought it was hilarious they blurred out the wording on the side of the bottle…like that classic shape isn’t as well known as Marilyn Monroe’s. Hey… at least y’all didn’t have to drink ’em outta brown paper bags. Girls I’m here to tell you…that’s the only thing y’all need to ask forgiveness for ’cause the show, the Keen’s the redo and ya’ll were fab to the bone!

LOvED the COKE and PEANUTS–my Daddy taught us the same thang! The bedroom make-over was fabulous! THe only problem is that it’s too dang short a show. Love y’all! xxoos

    Loved, Loved, Loved the show! So glad to see a great decorating show in our “great state of Texas”! So sorry you were forced to say “cola” – at least it wasn’t “soda”.
