will build 4 drinks. DIY kitchen sink patio bar

August 13, 2018

last summer, while filming an episode for HGTV’s That Junk Gypsy Life and The Find & The Fix, we found the perfect opportunity to use an old turquoise sink that we’ve been hoarding for years … we created an upcycled DIY kitchen sink patio bar … constructed from an old broken table base, an old kitchen sink, and old wood. the theme here is clearly: old.

it was a hot, hot, HOT july day in texas when we shot this. in fact, during part of the build out process, i actually had to shuck my boots (which i never ever do,  but desperate times call for desperate measures, people. don’t judge me. i was really, really desperate. desperately hot. desperately sweltering. and desperately trying to play it cool whilst pulling off a construction project for TV).

safety first. note: boots are securely in place. this must have been pre or post minor heat stroke. (also, does my hand look oddly, freakishly huge here? like godzilla’s hand placed on the body of a 5’4″ girl? whatever, i’m ok with that.)

in the end, heat stroke aside. it turned out gloriously. we wanted to bathe in that sink of ice but alas, we had to film and our producer wouldn’t allow it. but we couldn’t have been happier with the final product. and the best part?… it didn’t break the bank.

take home message here: always keep an eye out for old sinks at garage sales, flea markets, & renovation sites…they are perfect upcycled into patio bars!

because no bar is complete without a real bottle opener …

we set it up at the Wander Inn with this piece of wall decor for an extra splash of color and fun. no need to attach the wall art to the base…it gives the illusion of a “backsplash” but is way simpler.

and for all you pin-happy folks out there …. here’s a few pin-worthy versions!

and this longgggg one….

signing off for now…this post is making me thirsty!

XOXXOO!

I’m really loving the theme/design of your website.

Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues?
A small number of my blog visitors have complained about my blog not
working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Firefox.

Do you have any recommendations to help fix this issue?
