GoD bless oklahoma.

October 22, 2013

back in may, i know y’all all remember the horrible tornadoes that wreaked havoc on our southern neighbors in oklahoma. thanks to y’all, we immediately began fundraising efforts in the only way we knew how….by selling tee shirts.

we designed the tees that blake, miranda, and usher sported for the healin’ in the heartland concert…and donated 100% of the proceeds to relief efforts.

and then sold the mess out of the tees, koozies, and stadium cups online…

y’all sent us pics from near and far…

that warmed our hearts and brought tears to our eyes.

all together, because of y’all, we were able to donate over $25,000 to the united way of oklahoma!! more than we ever could have imagined!!!

god bless y’all. and god bless oklahoma. this really was a project that meant so much to all of us here at junk gypsy. the girls worked around the clock to get your tees, cups, and koozies to you as fast as possible. we called in extra help and worked weekends…the assembly line in our shipping warehouse was astounding and we all felt like we were part of something big. part of something really, really important. i know 25K is just a drop in the bucket of what was needed…and i know that nothing can help those families that lost their homes or, heaven forbid, lost loved ones. BUT we were honored to be able to offer help in our little way.

p.s. in case you’re wondering why this darn blog is soooooo belated…it’s because i’ve been a slacker. and i’m totally a blogger-loser. and i meant to get this done back in JULY…and here it is OCTOBER….and i’m JUST now getting it posted. eeeeek. i’m so glad that t-smitty pays our bills…the lights woulda been cut off longggg ago.

Wow, this brought tears to my eyes. It makes me feel so good that everyone pitched in and helped those in OK. I remember the website crashed as soon as the stuff went online and I had to wait to place an order lol I hope you keep inspiring others to be selfless. Keep up the wonderful work Gypsies!!!!

Our dear Junk Gypsy friends were there for my family when my grandma’s home was hit in the May 19th tornado. They checked on us constantly and even offered to load up and head our way to help. Then, they turn around and set out on a mission to help the whole state after the tornado that ravaged Oklahoma again the next day. Bless you for all you do and have done! It truly makes me proud to not only say we know your lovely family, but to also call you friends.
