ribbons on her wall.

February 3, 2014

sometimes inspiration comes in the oddest of places…and for us, this commercial. about a girl. and her horse. and the road. and her truck. well, we just can’t get this commercial out of our heads.

it’s the morning after. the morning after the superbowl. the biggest football game of the year (well, the biggest game to most of the universe…except for me, in which case, i admit i’m an aggie girl. if it’s not the ags (or the razorbacks), then i’m only in it for the chips and dip.) anywho…i digress.it was the biggest game of the year…with the most famous and anticipated commercials of the year. and in the wake of the commercials…i can’t help but think of this commercial… that will forever be complete awesomeness to us…

to us, it really doesn’t get much better than this.

it’s inspiring. and awesome.

it’s romantic. and beautiful.

a woman. a woman and her truck. and a 12oo lb passenger.

2 bodies with one mind.

and a ribbon… that goes on her wall. not in her hair.

good gawsh. it’s so, so awesome.

and although we weren’t riding barrel horses when we started this business, we were hooking up trailers to trucks before dawn and pulling them from town to town…loading and unloading, hammer in hand….dirt under our nails and scrapes on our knees. and the feeling, the feeling that is conveyed in this commercial is kinda how we felt. capable. in control. behind the steering wheel. navigating our path.

we are so inspired by this here commercial…by the story of a girl. and her horse. and the road…that amie started a little pinterest board…y’all check it out here!!

I also loved that commercial. I have a few of my friends that barrel raced and I would help them a few times go to their shows. I love being a Texas girl, I love driving a pickup truck and I love the freedom this commercial represented.

I loved that commercial as well. I don’t have a truck or a horse but I have many dreams of some day having both. You girls are the best!

A shorter version of this commercial has been showing on Tucson TV stations since around Christmas. I love it and am proud to be an AZ horsewoman with a 1976 Chevy shortbed pick-up. I don’t barrel race, but I get a lump in my throat when I see this commercial. I am so dang proud of cowgirls, and any woman, who drives her own truck. Long live truckin’ women!

Suggestion: How about a new bracelet that honors this, like Ribbons on her wall and in her hair, or, A girl and her horse and her truck, or, Ribbons in her horses hair and her truck’s cab….just sayin

As a competitive barrel racer and mounted shooter myself and having practically been born on the back of a horse , this ad was more than just a commercial it felt like a window into my life. I know more than just horse gals can identify with this, it was truly moving to me!! Xoxox

Well worded ladies! This commercial was nearly perfection. What an example of independence, pure passion, and appreciation. This commercial had multiple positive messages that could be taken away from it but most importantly , do what you love! Even if the road to get where you want to go is rough.. that’s what four- wheel drive is for ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m a horse girl, I wear boots nearly everyday, and I drive a half ton truck (mine is a Ford and I’m pretty partial to it.. but the Chevy was nice too). My horse and I mainly just trail ride and practice on barrels for fun, He challenges me as a rider, as a person and makes me better at life in general.

Women love cowboys and most cowboys love women. The cowboy represents a tough guy, and for a lot of women, feeling like a tough girl is a wonderful thing and gives us confidence. Everyone that saw that commercial pretty much loved it. For me this commercial showed someone that’s soft, and at the same time tough and even more – it represents and associates with it a freedom and an individuality that we intensely desire, and others desire to find in a woman. This cowgirl was my alter ego waiting to come out. I can wear a dress and high heels, but when I throw on my jeans and boots I feel fantastic. Add a horse, and the truck and you own the confidence to handle the world!

I absolutely love that y’all wrote a blog post about this!! I saw this commercial about a year ago and thought wow, a truck commercial actually geared toward women. Growing up barrel racing and rodeoing, I immediately connected to it, but I’m so happy to hear that other women can relate to it as well. Being a Ford family, it would be a no no buying a Chevy. However, after seeing this commercial Ford should step it up because I may have to go buy a Chevy now! Keep doing what you’re doing ladies, I absolutely love your Gypsy spirits!! From one traveling gal to another XOXO!!

Don’t forget us farmgirls and our Dodge trucks! Love the “So God Made a Farmer” theme during the Nat. Finals Rodeo. Maybe you could create something for us farmers….

This is 60 seconds of storytelling genius! A woman and her horse. 35 video cuts of glory inside a 1 minute spot. Amazing.
When I watched it, I really felt something and just like you said, I can’t get it out of my head. When I listened to it, I was captivated by the by the storytellers voice, the sounds of her world. Chevy did what I call, humanizing the brand. Bringing the brand to life with a powerful and true story. I believe I was put here on the planet to tell these stories. I think we are a world that is commercialled-out but stories like this, I can watch all day long! Thanks for making this modern-day cowgirl smile.
