Pray for Texas – 1 year later

There are moments when words aren’t enough.

When nothing you can do is enough.

And when this happens, we just do what we can.

Last summer, as devastating floods swept through Texas, our hearts were heavy watching neighbors, friends, and entire communities face unimaginable loss. Like so many people, we asked ourselves one simple question:

How can we help?

Our Pray for Texas benefit tee wasn’t just another graphic tee to y’all.  It became a symbol of hope, resilience, and the incredible generosity of this community. Every order represented someone choosing to wrap their arms around Texas from wherever they happened to be.

We cried as the orders poured in from ALL OVER THE WORLD! We had orders from Canada, Australia, France, and beyond. And every single order came with a message, and that was that people just wanted to help.

Because of you, we were able to donate almost $200,000 to organizations working directly with flood relief efforts, helping provide resources where they were needed most.

We were reminded once again that Texans have a way of showing up.

We show up with casseroles and chainsaws.
With tractors and trailers.
With hugs, prayers, and helping hands.
And sometimes…with a simple t-shirt.

Our neighbors here in Round Top rallied to help fold tees, box up tees, and ship tees.

At Junk Gypsy, we’ve always believed that community is what it is all about. And that when the chips are down that community shows up.  Watching thousands of you rally around this reminded us exactly why we love what we do. This wasn’t about fashion. It was about family.

To every single person who purchased a shirt, shared a post, said a prayer, or encouraged someone else to give, we thank you.

You helped turn heartbreak into a bit of hope for a heartbroken community.

Texas is resilient. She’s weathered storms before, and she’ll weather them again because of people like you who refuse to stand by when neighbors are hurting.

We’re endlessly grateful to be part of a community that believes in loving loud, giving generously, and always taking care of one another.

From the bottom of our hearts…

Thank you for praying for Texas.
Thank you for loving Texas.
And thank you for proving, once again, that when Texans link arms, there’s nothing we can’t get through together.

With grateful hearts,

The Junk Gypsy Crew

I guess I didn’t know about y’all then or this shirt. Im sosorry I missed out. A dear family friend from here in Tyler lost their grand baby. His story of his family’s loss was written up in Texas Monthly. It was a very tragic time for all of hus friends associates and family here in Tyler. Another drear sweet friend from Tyler was in Europe while her girls we at Mystic. She could get home do her mother and I drove down to get her girls not knowing if they were alive or not. The youngest was in the cabin where most of the girls were lost. She was found alive in the tree, her other daughter was higher up. Her mother and I, we are in our 70s were an absolute mess having to take turns driving and comforting each other while comforting Julie’s daughters. Such a tragic time. This year while working the Hospitality Room for theTexas Rose Festival Summer Practice, I had so many out of town mothers in a panic because their kids were down at camps along the Guadalupe River during the storms this past week and weekend.Praise God they were at much higher camps. It has been a very tense time, again here. Thank for doing what y’all did to benefit that whole area. Y’all are amazing! Deborah Robertson
