baby put on yer dancin’ shoes…
because we were a little caught up with trying to create the most
rockstar perfect wedding reception we could imagine, we kinda neglected other little details.
like uh, what WE were going to wear to the big event…
we raided each other’s closets, we excavated our vintage stash…soul sistas from here to there sent us boxes of rockin’ vintage threads & jewels to try on (BIG ThankS to DouBLE D RANCHWEAR, MaRTi AgASSi, paris montana, ToNY LAmA, our sista in the bayou -GaBRiELLE, & fellow junker – WiNNIE!!)
our new friend, THE FARMER’s TROPHY WiFE was worried we might show up in our work clothes so she posted this.
and true to form, we DID NOT have our outfits nailed down until the VERY LAST MINUTE. using the most absolutely important GyPSY road necessity, a pair of scissors.
mom modified my dress in the hotel room the DAY. of. the. WEDDING.
AND amie pulled out the sewing machine to gypsy-fy her dress literally HOURS. before. the. nuptials.
here we are…right before we raced off to the chapel…
let’s start with janie…
she rocked a totally jimi hendrix-style PUrPLE satin ruffle blouse paired with a studded & beaded vest and prairie-style santa fe skirt…all TaSHA POLiZZI.
she layered vintage jewelry with some JG pieces (amethyst agate tassel, the BrANDYWINE necklace, and bracelet) and wore her fave OLd GRINGO juliet-meets-biker-babe zipper-style boots.
and amie…
(we got ready last-minute in the airstream that served as the VIP trailer court during the reception…hairspray, doublesided dress tape, and jewelry was everywhere!)
amie found this way cute ruched HOT PINK dress and added one of our LACE bolero tops that she modified (literally on the front porch of our hotel) by adding ribbons down the length of each arm corset-style.
she added tons o’ JG turquoise jewelry (turquoise agate tassel, turquoise revival pendant, and a few vintage pieces)…and OLD GriNGO boots…and with her crazzzzzzzy mess o’ bouffant haiR, her outfit was complete.
and then there’s me…
i’m extremely proud of the amazingly beautiful necklace i was soooooo lucky to wear! seriously. our dear friend, marti agassi, made this necklace and my earrings. her work is as beautiful as her heart! marti, her sweet daughter-carter, BFF-cindy, and cindy’s precious daughter-annie, come from across the globe to antiques week EVERY show…they each have a beautiful spirit that is infectious… XOXOX, y’all!
and yes, her last name is AGASSI…as in the GALACTICALLY-crazy-awesome tennis great, ANDRE AGASSI. (marti is andre’s sis-in-law.) a significant portion of EVERY piece of jewelry sold is donated to ANdRE’s incredible education foundation, which provides education opportunities to underserved children. (100% graduate and get scholarships to college!)
mom cut the bottom 6 inches off my dress in the hotel…with a little doublestick tape on the top, it was as good as GUCCI!
my TONY LAMA kicks danced manyyyy a mile that night! these babies are the bees knees! hand stitched, hand tooled, & hand painted…completely made in the USA. AND available for pre-order HERE!
my belt, a vintage….circa 1985 – compliments of t-smitty (yep, my husband’s childhood belt)…complete with ‘TODD’ tooled on the back and his initials on the front (all together now…awwwww). amie had the LuCK & LOVE buckle made for my son, cash baker years ago; the TRUE STRENGTH ring and the BiG ChiEF cuff are 2 of my all time faves and the amazing sacred saints bracelet was ‘new’ made from vintage pieces.
gussied up in our ‘country casual’ finest…we hit the trail headed for the chapel…and then back to the barn for the reception. we had a true night to remember…practically danced the soles off our boots and went to bed that night with smiles as big as TeXAS spread across our faces.
and the next morning, still soaking in the magic from the night before and immensely proud of our contribution to the epic evening, we did what we do best…we pulled on our work gloves and got back to work…
methodically dismantling piece-by-piece the greatest masterpiece we’ve ever created.
and we rode off into the sunset…happily ever after.
